肇庆学院体育与健康学院本科体育教育专业始建于1973年，历经五十余年发展，已成为国家级特色专业及广东省首批一流专业，是学院办学体系中的核心优势专业。

本专业最具特色的优势项目为定向运动。该运动在学院开展二十余年来，累计获得各级赛事冠军300余次，在“全国学生定向锦标赛”等高水平竞赛中荣获国家级奖项120项、省级奖项525项，竞技水平稳居广东省高校前列。定向运动不仅提升了学生的专项技能与野外生存能力，也成为学院以赛促教、以赛促学的典型范例。

在课程体系方面，专业构建了“理论基础+专项技能+教师教育”三位一体的课程模块。理论基础课程包括运动解剖学、运动生理学、学校体育学等核心课程；专项技能课程涵盖田径、篮球、排球、足球、武术、定向运动等项目，注重学生运动技术与教学能力的协同发展；教师教育模块融入教育学、心理学、教材教法等内容，强化师范生职业素养。

近年来，本科毕业生就业率保持在96.27% 以上，主要面向中小学体育教师岗位，部分进入企事业单位或继续深造。

Physical Education
(1) Program Overview and Features
The undergraduate Physical Education program at the School of Physical Education and Health, Zhaoqing University, was established in 1973. With over five decades of development, it has become a national-level characteristic program and one of the first-tier first-class programs in Guangdong Province, representing the core advantageous program within the school’s educational system.
(2) Distinctive Advantages
The most distinctive advantage of this program is orienteering. Having been offered in the school for over 20 years, orienteering has won more than 300 championships at various levels. In high-level competitions such as the National Student Orienteering Championships, the program has earned 120 national awards and 525 provincial awards, consistently ranking among the top universities in Guangdong Province in terms of competitive performance. Orienteering not only enhances students’ specialized skills and wilderness survival abilities but also serves as a typical example of the school’s philosophy of promoting teaching and learning through competition.
(3) Core Curriculum
In terms of curriculum design, the program features a three-in-one module system comprising “theoretical foundations + specialized skills + teacher education.” Theoretical foundation courses include core subjects such as Sports Anatomy, Sports Physiology, and School Physical Education. Specialized skills courses cover track and field, basketball, volleyball, soccer, martial arts, orienteering, and other sports, emphasizing the coordinated development of students’ athletic skills and teaching abilities. The teacher education module integrates content from Pedagogy, Psychology, Teaching Materials and Methods, strengthening the professional qualities of future physical education teachers.

In recent years, the undergraduate employment rate has remained above 96.27%. Graduates primarily work as physical education teachers in primary and secondary schools, with some entering enterprises, public institutions, or pursuing further studies.
